Abstract

Card deck 10 is fed horizontally or in a slightly inclined attitude over flat bed 11 by a pair of continuously running stainless steel belts 12. Magnetic document follower 13 resting on belts 12 retains deck 10 erect in the hopper. Cards are fed singly and consecutively from deck 10 through throat 15. Cards are transported on edge by feed rolls, not shown, past processing station 16 and, when multiple stackers are used, select station 17. To properly orient the document in the selected stacker, the cards are routed along curved document diverter 18 to orient stacked card deck 20 in the same sequence as in the hopper. The cards are delivered by the transport from diverter 18, through cooperating stacker feed roll 21 and pressure rolls 22 and along stacker deceleration plate 23 of fishhook stacker 24.
