Abstract

The forms in a printer are used to drive a magnetic emitter 10 through a pin feed wheel 12. This has sufficient teeth so that there are two or more signals from transducer 14 in the shortest line spacing. The signal from transducer 14 is amplified by amplifier 16 and used to set latch 20 through Or 22 which has as its other input the No Space signal. Latch 20 is reset by a Carriage Go signal. The set output gates a Print Ready signal in And 23 which serves to inhibit Print Ready if the form does not advance. The emitter 10 signal normally sets latch 20 and the set output gates the Print Ready signal. Should the form fail to advance, latch 20 remains reset by Carriage Go and Print Ready is inhibited by And 23. The No Space signal functions to set latch 20 when no carriage space is required.
