Abstract

In ultrasonic dicing and cutting equipment work, piece 5 is mounted on an anvil, not shown, and beneath ultrasonic horn 2. Recess 3 is defined in the face of horn 2. Cutting tool 4 is shaped to be received in recess 3 and to be registered by horn 2 in it. Tool 4 is guided on workpiece 1 by release spool 5 and rewind spool 6. During the dicing or cutting process, tool 4 is caused to travel across workpiece 1 under the vibrative forces of horn 2 to cause cutting of such workpiece.
