Abstract

The transmission unit includes output hub 10 and input hub 11 drivingly connected together by spring 12 which absorbs low and high frequency torsional vibrations. Hubs 10 and 11 respectively have recesses 13 and 14 for receiving opposite ends of spring 12 so that normal drive between such hubs passes through spring 12. Limit stud 15 is fixed within hub 11 and extends into V-shaped slot 16 in hub 10 so that wind-up of spring 12 is restricted by stud 15 contacting the sides of slot 16 during start-up conditions. During normal drive, stud 15 is substantially centered in slot 16. Limit stud 15 can be omitted. In this case, spring 12 winds up on hub portions 10a and 11a of hubs 10 and 11 to provide drive during starttup, Spring 12 releases from hub portions 10a and 11a during normal drive.
