Abstract

The process consists in transferring portion 5 of magnetic coating 3 extracted from magnetic tape 3 to support 4 such as badge by heating tape 3 and by applying it against support 4. Substrate 2 such as MYLAR* on which is coated tape 3, is generally less thermoplastic than the binder of such tape. Thus, when a heated head 1, having the selected configuration to be printed, is applied through substrate 2, the binder of tape 3 is softened at the location under head 1 and part 5 is transferred into support 4. Then tape 3 is scraped in order to have visualization of selected configuration 5 on support 4. By using a permanent magnet heating head, part 5 can be magnetized as a transfer is made. *Trademark of E. I. du Pont de Nemours, & Co.
