Abstract

In a single operation, wire 2 is both cut to any predetermined length and bent into a U-shape. As in drawings A and B, wire 2 is bent around member 3, which member is in the shape of a half-circle, and is held firmly by clamp 4. Member 3 then moves laterally away from clamp 4 as in drawing C. The particular length of wire needed is obtained by controlling the distance that member 3 moves from clamp 4. Knife 1 then cuts wire 2.
