Abstract

To make an electrical connection to an electrically and thermally conductive sheet 1, e.g., a ground plane, covered by a layer of insulating material 2 on top of which electrically conductive strips 3 are deposited, a hole 4 is formed through one conductive strip 3 and layer 2. Hole 4 is filled with conductive material 5 to electrically connect sheet 1 and strip 3. Electrical connection 6 is then made to strip 3. There is thus provided an electrical connection via material 5 to sheet 1. Strip 3 can be severed on the side of hole 4 remote from connection 6. Use of this technique permits an electrical connection to be made to the conductive sheet with the application of less heat than is required to make an electrical connection directly to the conductive sheet.
