Abstract

This pulley includes flexibly mounted drive teeth to compensate for drive belt expansion and contraction. The assembly includes timing drive belt 1 that is susceptible to expanding and contracting due to changes in humidity and temperature. Belt 1 includes drive teeth la formed in it for engagement with floating teeth 2 mounted in rubber compensator ring 3, carried by pulley 4. The latter carries angular-shaped elements 5, spaced for cooperative engagement with teeth 2. The arrangement is such that if belt 1 expands, then teeth 2 move outwardly to the tooth diameter indicated for expanded. If belt 1 contracts, teeth 2 move inwardly to form a tooth diameter indicated as compressed.
