Abstract

Strain relief is provided at a printed circuit card where a flat or ribbon cable connector is joined to the card. In drawings A and B flat cable 1 having exposed conductors 2 at one end of such cable is joined to printed circuit card 3. The latter has conducting lands corresponding to conductors 2 at an area 4 on card 3. Cable 1 is depressed into cutout 5 so as to assume a U-shape 6. Strain relief 7, shaped generally as the shape W, has center bar 8. Strain relief 7 is slipped under card 3 such that bar 8 engages loop 6 of cable 1, forming a strain relief for the cable-card connection at this point.
