Abstract

This half-wave rectifier uses comparator C with overdrive circuit R1 and R2. The input signal Vin is fed to the comparator inverting input, through delay line D, and resistors R and R', in series, to the output load. A polarized relay is used to ground the point between R and R'. The relay is closed for a positive voltage V at the output of comparator. Thus for a negative Vin, however, the delay due to the switching path allows a small part of negative wave to be transmitted at the output. This is compensated for by introducing delay D in the signal path in order to compensate for the switching path delay.
