Abstract

On card punching machines, it is desirous to electrically detect erroneous multiple punches and automatically correct the error by skipping out the mispunched card and correctly punching a new card. Automatic sensing is performed in detector circuit 1 which is responsive to the current from the interposer magnetic coils. Voltage generating and summing circuit 2 is responsive to current from the interposer magnetic coils not shown. If only one punch occurs, the output generated at circuit 2 is insufficient to trigger threshold device 4 and thus turn on control power relay 6. Punching error identification codes on a mispunched card, skipping it out, and repunching a new card with the correct information is performed by processing unit 8 responsive to the output of relay 6.
