Abstract

This decal interconnection method employs the use of a photosensitive film carrier. As shown in A, gold metal foil 1 is coated with a photosensitive polymer and predried to a film. Bonding relief areas 4 are exposed, developed and etched to uncover specific areas of foil 1. Postbaking of the polymer insures removal of any residual developer. In B, the inverted side of foil 1 is coated with photoresist 5, dried, and exposed. A decal interconnection pattern 6 is developed in alignment with areas 4. Final etching of the pattern, as in C, results in film carrier 2 supporting the remaining gold foil 1 in the shape of interconnectors 7, also as in drawing D.
