Abstract

Operator's panel or housing 10 has an aperture for receiving an illuminated display. Display front panel 12 of transparent material has a front projection 13 which is received in the housing aperture and conforms to it for aligning the display. The rear surface of panel 12 has a recess in which is received light block 15. The latter provides a matrix of light sources for illuminating discreet areas of panel 12. Held captive between panel 12 and light block 15 is a negative 17 which carries the nomenclature to be illuminated. Panel 12 has glare-free front and rear surfaces to eliminate glare from the front and diffuse light from the rear. Negative 17 can be interchanged to alter the nomenclature as desired.
