Abstract

This selection indicator has selectable scales corresponding to various sizes of fiche images and, for each such, scale denotes the X-Y address of the particular image in viewing position. This obviates the need for changing dials or index plates or indicator shafts as previously required for different fiche matrix sizes.

Selection Indicator for Fiche Viewer

This selection indicator has selectable scales corresponding to various sizes of fiche images and, for each such, scale denotes the X-Y address of the particular image in viewing position. This obviates the need for changing dials or index plates or indicator shafts as previously required for different fiche matrix sizes.

As in drawing A, a microfiche viewer has holder 1 for jacket 2 containing microfiche matrix-type film sheet 3. A split drive shaft 4 moves relative to optical center 5 aligned with a lens and projection system not shown. Knob 6 is rotated to act through devices, including belt 7, pinion 8, and rack 9 in drawing B, to move holder 1 laterally, and concurrently through cable 10 to move indicator 11 laterally along the particular numerical quadrant scale 12 then exposed on selector indicator 13. Knob 14 is rotated to act through pulley 15 to move holder 1 in front-rear directions and concurrently, through pulley 15 and guide pulleys 15' and cable 16, move indicator 17 laterally along the particular alphabetic quadrant scale 18 then exposed on indicator 13.

Adjacent shaft 19 that supports selector knob 20, drawings A and B, indicator 13, drawing C, has four flat portions 21 denoting the number of fiche images in various conventional X-Y matrix scales. Knob 20 is rotatable to expose to the viewer the particular scale corresponding to the scale of the fiche sheet 3 inserted in holder 1. The numerical and alphabetica...
