Abstract

Wiper guide 10 serves to place wires 12 and 14 in mating grooves 16 and 18 on ultrasonic bonding tip 20. Guide 10 comprises plates 26, 28, and 30 separated by spacers 32 and 34, all of which are held in alignment by pressure devices applied by screw 36. Spacers 32 and 34 form grooves to accommodate wires 12 and 14. The entire assembly is mounted upon two parallel-disposed leaf springs 22 and 24 by screws 38 and 40. In operation, guide 10 is moved into engagement with wires 12 and 14 so that the wires are seated in grooves formed by spacers 32 and 34. Springs 22 and 24 urge guide 10 into contact with the bottom of tip 20. As guide 10 is moved continuously to the right, wires 12 and 14 are smoothly and firmly positioned into grooves 16 and 18 in tip 20.
