Abstract

This vacuum entry system is for passing tape 1 from atmospheric pressure into vacuum chamber 2. The system includes a pair of slits 3 in housing wall 4 with containers 5 formed in the wall interior adjacent the slits. Mercury in the containers allows free passage of the tape while preventing the passage of air into the chamber.
