Abstract

Endless mobius ribbon 10 is skewed relative to print line 11 in order to utilize the entire ribbon width. Idler cone 12 guides ribbon 10 as it leaves print line 11 and directs it between drive roll 13 and pressure roll 14. These rolls draw ribbon 10 out of cartridge 15 and allow it to feed back in a manner that it coils around spool 16. Idler roll 17 cooperates to present ribbon 10 to print line 11. By this arrangement, both sides of ribbon 10 pass between print hammers 18 and print wheels 19 for even wear of such ribbon.
