Abstract

Uniformity in the amount of pressure applied during a wire wrapping operation is provided by this backforce device. Spring 1 of predetermined force biases wire wrap bit 2 away from drive plug 3. The driving connection between plug 3 and bit 2 is provided by flat 4 on bit 2 which is slidable within mating recess 5 in plug 3. Sleeve 6 surrounding bit 2 is fixed in wire wrap gun 7 and is adapted to contact the circuit board. As the wire wrap on the pin moves outward from the circuit board, the spring connection allows bit 2 to move upward into the recess in plug 3 insuring a proper wrap.
