Abstract

The measurement of differential current with external probe 10 is enabled by formation of loop 12 in a multiwire cable 14. The current probe loop can be formed by crossing over two wires of the cable, so that each wire occupies the original position of the other in the cable. Where very small current probes are to be used, the insulation can be stripped from one or both loops. Very thin sleeving or a plastic coating can then be applied to each wire to provide electrical insulation.
