Abstract

A carrier for use in electrophotographic development systems comprises grains of sand which are coated with a resin composition. The resin composition is 88% by weight of solvent, 10.8% by weight of a polyvinyl chloride-polyvinyl acetate copolymer, such as Exon 497 available from Firestone Plastic Company, and 1.2% by weight of a red dye such as Orasol Red B available from Ciba Chemical and Dye Company. More than 95% of the carrier particles have a size greater than 450 microns, U.S. B.S. Sieve No. 20, and the average size of the particles is about 590 microns, U.S.B.S. Sieve No. 30.
