Electron Image Dissector

An electron image dissector for iconoscope tube 1 is shown. Image screen 2 emits electron stream 3 containing the beat spectrum between a telescopic image focused upon screen 2 and a local laser light floodlighting screen 2.

The elements of the dissector are collimator 4, electron microscope objective 5, electron image deflector 6, electron magnifier 7, and aperture 8 in microwave cavity 9. With the exception of deflector 6 and microwave cavity 9, the combination acts as an electron microscope.

The position of the dissection element resolved and which appears at magnifier 7 and aperture 8 is determined by the voltage on deflector 6. All other portions of the electron image from screen 2 are deflected away from scanning aperture 8 by deflector 6.
