Abstract

In laboratory work relative to vibration testing, it is desirable to continuously record the shaker drive frequency on the moving oscillograph paper. Servo voltmeter 1 with odometer readout wheels 2 is attached to Visicorder* 3. The frequency to be recorded is converted to a proportional DC voltage in a Frequency to DC Converter 4 and fed to servo voltmeter 1 via amplifier reference unit 5. Servo voltmeter 1 is fastened in a position to reflect the image of wheels 2 on the edge of light sensitive oscillograph paper 6 via prism 7 and lens 8 when U-shaped flash lamp 9 is actuated. Cam 10, connected to the paper drive mechanism, operates contact 11 in the flash lamp circuit to fire the lamp 9 each time the paper advances a predetermined distance irregardless of paper speed. * Product of Honeywell.
