Abstract

A typewriter keyboard in U.S. Patent 3,086,635 is made free of partial depression error by serializing the character selection and cycle start function. Keylever 1 depresses interposer 2 through nonrepeat connection 3 to release interposer 2 from latch 4. When released, interposer 2 is moved forwardly in the direction of arrow A by spring 5. Forward motion of interposer projection 6 pivots cycle clutch bail 7 to initiate a cycle of operation. Partial depression of keylever 1 that is not sufficient to release interposer 2, thus cannot move bail 7 to initiate a cycle.
