Abstract

The device allows the adjustment of the electrical length of a transmission line between points 10 and 12 to an accuracy of a fraction of a picosecond. Thus, minute adjustments of the electrical length of the transmission line are readily achievable. Upper member 14 is moveable with respect to lower member 16 by lead screw 17 and its support. The structure of the device is indicated in 13 which is a cross-section taken through the device along the line B-13 shown in A. As indicated in B, the device comprises two ground planes 18, two dielectric layers 20 and two conductors 22. The latter are maintained in intimate physical contact at the point of overlap by the springs or other resilient compression members 24. The device is useful in nanosecond or picosecond pulse apparatus.
