Storage Device with Magnetic Continuity

The coupled film storage device maintains magnetic continuity at each bit storage position where electrical discontinuity must be maintained between various control conductors.

The device includes coupled magnetic films 2 and 4. Extending between such films is copper bit drive line 8. Arranged above at right angles to line 8 is copper word drive line 10 which is surrounded by suitable insulation material 12. Magnetic material 6 extends around the insulation and is magnetically continuous with film 4. Magnetic material 6 acts as a keeper.

By this arrangement, magnetic continuity is maintained from film 4 around line 10 by keeper 6. Electrical discontinuity is maintained between line 8 and line 10 by insulation 12 as required. A similar arrangement for maintaining magnetic continuity while providing electrical discontinuity can be provided for magnetic storage structures with either word lines on both sides of the bit line or bit lines on both sides of the word line.
