Abstract

The magnetic tape comprises a lubricated, high-coercivity tape. Backing 10 is coated with a high-coercivity alloy particle oxide layer 11. Then, a thin layer 12 of dry lubricant is sprayed on layer 11 of the tape and is allowed to dry. The dry lubricant preferably comprises tetrafluorethylene polymer solids. After the lubricant is dry, the oxide is polished by a buffer to a smooth finish.
