Abstract

In this circuit, a saturable reactor control is used to provide power supply regulation. Saturable reactor 10 is coupled in series with the AC input from terminals 12 and 14 of transformer 16 supplying power to a DC rectifier and filter comprising diodes 18 and capacitors 20 respectively. The voltage between output terminal 22 and reference terminal 24 is measured against zener diode 26 which is used to control reactor 10. A tap on the control winding and diode 28 accomplish the dual purpose of limiting the breakdown voltage of the control transistor and feeding this energy back into the supply. Diode 30 and relay winding 32 provide an alarm in case of a dropout of limits of the line voltage or failure in the control transistor.
