Abstract

This film cartridge requires no takeup reel and is self-threading. Cartridge 10 contains circular cavity 12 having a tangential channel 14 through which 16 mm film strip 16 passes from external sprocket drive 18. Strip 16 is fed by guide 20 between thin-wall LUCITE* ring 22, which floats inside cavity 12, and beryllium copper spring 24. Ring 22 prevents the minor diameter of film from decreasing, thus preventing the interface movement of film layers. The width of spring 24 varies so that a uniform deflection is obtained as additional film is fed into cartridge 10. Rollers 26 are incorporated to minimize friction. * Trademark of E.
