Abstract

Cathode ray tube 1 has gun 2 and phosphor coated anode 3 positioned in an evacuated envelope. To prolong the tube life, which would otherwise be limited by coulomb aging of the phosphor, the anode is disk-shaped and rotatably supported on axis 5. Thus the phosphor area struck by the beam can be changed periodically.
