Abstract

The angular position of shaft 1 is indicated by operation of reed switch 2. Flux of magnet 3 normally is directed to the elements of switch 2 causing the switch to close. When shaft 1 is rotated to the broken line position such that the end segments 5 of magnetic shunt 6 intercept the flux from the ends of magnet 3, the elements of switch 2 separate to electrically indicate the position of shaft 1. The duration that the switch elements are open is proportional to arc 7 of segments 5.
