Calibration Tool

This tool calibrates an attenuator accessary tip and like accessories for oscilloscope probes.

When using an attenuator, it is necessary to adjust it to compensate for the specific capacitance of the individual probe. Attenuator 10, shown in B and D, typically a Hewlett-Packard No. 10214A attenuator, is adapted to receive the probe into socket 11. Adjustment of attenuator 10 is achieved by rotating threaded slug assembly 12 with a suitable tool.

Assembly 12 is relatively fragile and is easily damaged or broken. This tool
14. shown at A and C has a handle 15, a shank 16 provided with axial aperture 17, and two longitudinally extending prongs 18. The end of shank 16 fits snugly into socket 11 with tubular conductor 20 of attenuator 10 received in aperture 17. Prongs 18 are received in apertures 21 in assembly 12 providing a positive driving engagement between attenuator 10 and tool 14. Such arrangement permits rotation in either direction and prevents damage to assembly 12.
