Abstract

For a read operation a word wire 13 is energized at a full-select current level and core signals are sensed on bit-sense wires. There is more than one word on each word line and bit-sense lines of unselected words are energized with an inhibit half-select current. A diode is arranged for coupling all of bit-sense lines of each bit position to a common sense amplifier 22. When bit drivers for unaddressed words are turned on during a read operation, diodes 23 become reverse biased and thus isolate amplifier 22 from unselected bit-sense lines. Diodes of a selected bit line bit-sense wire are slightly forward biased to transmit the core switching signal of a selected word to amplifier 22. Diodes 23, responsive to currents on unaddressed bit lines during a read operation, isolate addressed bit lines from unaddressed ones.
