Abstract

The apparatus and the method characterizes the human vocal tract in terms of the frequency of resonance and the queue of the resonances. A sinusoidal acoustic signal from a signal generator is injected directly into the vocal tract. This is effected either by a contact speaker on the throat or a sound pipe projected into the forward portion of the mouth. The varying sinusoidal acoustic signal is modulated by the vocal cavities. The modulated signal output is picked up by a microphone and applied to a voltage measuring system for examining the resonances and the queue of the resonances.
