Abstract

Spring 10 holds link 11 against adjustable stop 12. With link 11 in this position, picker knife 13 is ready to advance a card 14 from hopper 15 to a pair of cooperating feed rolls 16. Link 11 is pivoted clockwise when cam 17 is brought into contact with the peripheral surface of continuously driven rubber roller 18. Cam 17 is pivotally mounted on link 11. Spring 25 urges 17 counterclockwise into engagement with armature 19. Further counterclockwise movement of 17 is restrained by 19 and cam 17 is held out of driving contact with the peripheral surface of 18. Cam 17 is pivoted clockwise into contact with 18 by armature 19 when electromagnet 20 is energized. Roller 18 then drives 17 clockwise to pivot link 11 clockwise. Momentum of 11 and 13 carries the pivot point of 17 to a position where 17 is free of roller 18.

Momentum of 11 and 13 carries the pivot point of 17 to a position where 17 is free of roller 18. Spring 25 then restores 17 relative to 11 and spring 10 returns 11 against stop 12.
