Abstract

Cards 10, fed in seriatim from hopper 11 past sensing station 12, are reversed at card reversing and delay station 15 and entered into one of two stackers 17 or 18. The information read from the card is transferred to control unit 20 which determines which stacker is to receive the card. In many instances, this determination cannot be made prior to the card entering station 15. In such an instance, magnet 21 is energized prior to the card entering station 15. As card 10 leaves cooperating feed rolls 22 and 23, it freeflies into cantilever spring 25 to carry such spring against magnet 21. With the latter energized, card 10 is then held in station 15 until magnet 21 is de-energized. When this occurs, spring 25 drives 10 out of station 15 to cooperating feed rollers 23 and 26.
