Abstract

As shown in A, pushrod 10 is actuated by the armature of electromagnet 12 through a driver 14 for actuating print hammer 16. The latter is movable to four different positions two of which lie on opposite sides of the centerline of electromagnet 12. As pushrod 10 has a fixed length, the travel distance in positions M1 and M4 is greater than for positions M2 and M3. Compensation is provided as shown in drawing B by having the timing pulses from drum 20 gated in And 22 with signals indicative that the hammer is in positions M1 and M4. An output of And 22 is applied directly to driver 14 through Or 24. The signals for positions M2 and M3 which gate the timing pulses in And 26 are passed through delay 28 to compensate for the shorter travel distance of pushrod 10.
