Single Tape Reel Cartridge

The cartridge provides protective storage for a tape reel when not in use. It facilitates automatic cartridge loading.

Cartridge 10 basically consists of molded case 11 which contains tape reel 12 whose rear flange 13 rests against dust seal 14. Reel pusher assembly 18 contains centering stud 15 bearing 16 and spider spring 17 seated against the front surface of reel 12. Front cover 19 fits the inside diameter of case 11 against stop 21. In this position spring 17 is compressed and round sealing ring 22 is snapped into a groove in case 11, thus retaining the assembly.

Lugs 23 are used for locating and loading cartridge 10 onto a tape transport. Sliding door 24 is opened to permit the tape to pass through when on a tape drive.
