Abstract

The accurate positioning of multiple recording heads is accomplished by this configuration. Each recording head 1 has a window, through which winding 2 is passed and a gap 3. Inner surfaces 5 and 6 are accurately located with respect to gap 3. Assembly of a plurality of heads is accomplished by a nonmagnetic head bar 7 which is banded to surfaces 5 and 6. The dimension between heads is controlled by spacers 8. Final lapping of the head surface is controlled by a pair of gage pins 9 and 10.
