Abstract

A stable series type regulator for providing a regulated 12 volt output from an 18 volt source comprises interconnected monolithic series regulator and operational amplifier chips 10 and 12, respectively. Regulator 10 includes series transistor T1 connecting the output to the source and having cascaded control transistors T2 and T3 with zener reference diode Z. Potentiometer 14 provide s one input to amplifier 12 while diode Z provides a reference input. The output is fed back to the base of T2 through zener diode DY, enabling amplifier 12 to provide more current without saturation. Capacitor 16 provides high-frequency stabilization to compensate for phase shift of the regulator transistors.
