Abstract

The electroluminescent display includes thirteen electroluminescent diodes A...M geometrically arranged as shown in 1 and connected in a circuit as shown in 2. The circuit includes sixteen switching diodes 10 logically connected to control the state of the electroluminescent diodes in response to signals selectively applied to eight input terminals designated 1...7 and 9. A positive voltage is applied to a bus conductor 12 from which a number of branches extend through resistors to the matrix of diodes 10. The cathode of each electroluminescent diodes is connected to ground. The circuit connections are such that in the absence of a signal at terminals 1...7, 9 all electroluminescent diodes A... M conduct and emit light to display the numeral 8.
