Abstract

This platen assures intimate contact during a contact printing operation in which the light source can be positioned on either side This platen assures intimate contact during a contact printing operation in which the light source can be positioned on either side of the films. Two pressurized platens are provided. Each platen includes a glass window and a transparent membrane such that a light source can be imaged through it onto films to be contact printed. Application of pressure to the chamber of the inflatable platen causes the transparent membrane to move outward contacting its associated film. Thus, the films are squeezed together with a rolling movement from the center outward. Any air trapped between the films is squeezed from the center outward.
