CCROS Document

This card capacitor read-only storage document initially contains all binary 0's. A 1 is provided at selected bit positions by using an electrographic pencil to connect a particular capacitor plate to its corresponding drive line.

Document 1 has conductive tabs 2 arranged in columns and rows on an insulative substrate, preferably of plastic. At each bit position where a binary 1 is desired, the particular tab 2 is directly electrically connected to the corresponding drive line 3 by an electrographic pencil mark 4 as in drawing B. In the absence of mark 4, no capacitive coupling occurs, denoting a 0. Tabs 2 underlie and are separated by dielectric from corresponding tabs 5 arranged in columns and rows on storage board 6. The tabs on 1 and 6 constitute the respective plates of unique capacitors at each bit position. Sense lines 7 are provided on board 6. Each line 7 passes through all tabs 5 in a respective column to enable a readout of the respective words on document 1 when a signal is applied to a selected word drive line 3 via conductive pad 8.

To change indicia or correct errors, marks 4 are erased and reapplied where required, thus enabling document 1 to be modified and reused indefinitely.
