Wrapping Tool for Miniature Wire

Wire wrapping bit 10 makes either right-hand or left-hand wraps on squared off contact pins with 30-gauge miniature wire.

Rod 11 has a central axial bore 12 for receiving the contact pin. Countersink cam surface 13 with a 70 degrees included angle is provided about the end of the bore. Wire entry surface 14 is formed by a circular cutter tilted at 45 degrees from the axis of rod 11. Flat 15 at the side of rod 11 provides a wire receiving slot closed in by a surrounding sleeve, not shown.

The wire feeds off of flat 15 and surface 14 onto cam 13. This wraps the wire by camming it inwardly toward the contact pin and axially into engagement with the preceding turn. Chordal projection 16 opposite the wire entry serves only to wipe down the pigtail end.
