Regulated Power Supply

The circuit shows a ferroresonant power supply in which output voltage is maintained constant although variations occur in input voltage and frequency.

The power supply has a ferroresonant transformer 10. This is provided with two sets of paired primary windings 12, resonant winding 14 and output winding
16. The input voltage is applied to four transistors 18 in a push-pull arrangement. Transistors 18 are connected to half-wave rectify the input voltage. Each winding 12 is shunted by a capacitor 20. The voltage output is full-wave rectified. The output is also compared with a reference voltage supplied by zener diode 22.

The difference voltage is coupled to vary the frequency of oscillator 24. The output of oscillator 24 is coupled through transformer 26 having four output windings 28. Each winding 28 is connected to control the base drive of transistors 18 to control the output voltage of the power supply.
