Abstract

This printed circuit card interconnects in reverse order, i. e., convolutes, terminals on its opposite edges. The card has an insulating substrate 10 in the shape of a square. Substrate 10 bears a plurality of conductors forming closed, four-sided loops. Alternate sides of the loops are printed on different sides of substrate 10 with no connection between loops.

This printed circuit card interconnects in reverse order, i. e., convolutes, terminals on its opposite edges. The card has an insulating substrate 10 in the shape of a square. Substrate 10 bears a plurality of conductors forming closed, four-sided loops. Alternate sides of the loops are printed on different sides of substrate 10 with no connection between loops.

Thus, conductors 20... 23 form a loop. Conductors 21 and 23 are on one side and conductors 20 and 22 are on the other side of substrate 10. This loop connects to terminals 24... 27 which are positioned such that, when the card is turned over vertically and used as a connector, terminals 24 and 26 and terminals 25 and 27 are convoluted.

Although a square configuration of substrate 10 is shown, the conductor loop concept is adaptable to any polygon having an even number of sides. The polygon need not be equilateral and connection of a loop with each edge of the substrate is not a requirement. Further, if desired, the loop configuration can provide a change of connections other than convolutional.
