Parametric Phase Locked Circuit

The magnetic thin film parametric circuit includes DC magnetic control field 10 applied along the hard axis of film 12, in a given direction or in an opposite direction, to control the phase stable state.

In drawing 1, the parametric circuit has the magnetic thin film 12 in the form of a flat film. A winding 14 coupled to film 12 carries an alternating pump current
I. This produces along the easy axis of film 12 a pump magnetic field Hf, as shown in 3, and a direct current I DC producing also along the easy axis a DC magnetic field. A winding L magnetically coupled to film 12 and arranged perpendicular to winding 14 forms along with a capacitor C a tuned circuit tuned to the frequency Hf/2. An output voltage can be taken from the tuned circuit through resistor R1. In operation, DC magnetic control field 10 is applied to film 12 prior to the application of the pump field Hf, as indicated at 3.

In drawing 2, the magnetic film 12 is in the form of a cylindrical film with the winding 14 passing along the longitudinal axis of the cylindrical film to produce the pump field Hf along the easy axis or circumference of film 12. The DC magnetic control field 10 can be produced by DC circuit 16. This includes a winding 18 connected through resistor R2 to one of two oppositely poled DC batteries 20 and 22 by a switch SW. The operation of this circuit is similar to that of the one in drawing 1.
