Heat Conducting Washer

This washer provides an excellent heat conducting connection between an electrical component and a heat dissipating framework. The washer electrically isolates the component from the framework.

Material having both heat conducting and insulating properties is provided by impregnating woven fiberglass fabric with a good heat conducting yieldable substance such as the silicone rubber sold by the Dow Corning Company under the trade designation RTV 521.

Washers constructed from this material provide good insulation between electrical components and mounting frameworks while exhibiting excellent heat conductivity. Washers of this material also have the advantage that they do not flow or creep under pressure. They maintain a good tight contact between the component and frame for the lifetime of the unit.
