Tape Splicer

This tool is for making a tape belt by semiautomatically splicing the ends of a loop of tape.

Base plate 10 supports vertical plate 13 from which are projected three rods
14. The latter are precisely placed and squarely oriented so that a length of tape can be wrapped around them to provide a loop of a fixed length. The bottom of the loop is substantially straight. The tape ends overlap along groove 11.

The tape ends are held in position by vacuum ports 12 formed through base
10. Cutter wheel 16 is moved along groove 11 to cut across the tape. Wheel 16 is slideably supported from rod 20 extending from column 21. The upper waste end of the cut tape is removed. Adhesive tape is applied across the cut ends to complete the making of the tape belt.
