Sil-fos is a welding alloy consisting of 80% copper, 15% silver and 5% phosphorous. Where stamping cannot be used because of size limitations, it is formed into extremely small welding pads by etching.

Etchant for Sil Fos

Sil-fos is a welding alloy consisting of 80% copper, 15% silver and 5% phosphorous. Where stamping cannot be used because of size limitations, it is formed into extremely small welding pads by etching.

The following composition is suitable for etching sil-fos: Ferric Nitrate 1 part Nitric Acid, concentrated 1. 5 parts Distilled Water 2 parts.

Etching temperature can vary from 90 degrees F to about 160 degrees F, the preferred temperature being about 120 degrees F.
