Abstract

This system tests the voltage states at points A11... Aij... Amn of a field effect transistor FET matrix arrangement. The voltage states are of two distinct values V1 or V2. A matrix crosspoint comprises an FET such as Tij for example, the control gate of which is coupled to point Aij to be tested, the source to control switch SCj of column j, and the drain to switch SLi of row i. The row and column switches are FET's similar to those of a crosspoint. They have the following operating characteristics. With FET conducting both source and gate are at 0 volts. With FET cutoff the source is at 0 volts and the gate is at -6 volts.

Voltage Checking Device

Point Aij is tested by SLi and SCj. Their gate voltage is changed from -6 to 0 volts. SCj is then conducting and the source of field effect transistor Tij is then brought to 0 volts. Since point Aij has two voltage states V1 = 0 volts and V2 = - 6 volts, Tij conducts should point Aij be at 0 volts, making SLi conduct, its source and gate being at 0 volts, and causing a 0 volt to be detected in Oi. Tij cuts off should Aij be at -6 volts causing no current along line Li, as well as making SLi nonconductive, and causing substantially -6 volts to be detected in Oi. Thus, should Aij be at voltage state Vi, Oi is it 0 volts, and should Aij voltage state be V2, Oi is at -6 volts.
